Rows wrong or missing?
Send us the shape of this statement, not its contents. The report below is made in this browser. It keeps where text sits, dates and column headings. Every name, amount, reference and account number is replaced with x and 1, as you can see. Nothing is sent until you send it.
Then email the report to support@statementtocsv.co.uk and say which bank it is from. We’ll add the layout and let you know.

Works with text PDFs that have Date, Description, Paid in / Paid out (or Amount) and Balance columns. Scanned or photographed statements are not supported yet. The samples are fictional test data.
The problem with copying statements together
Converting twelve statements one by one and pasting them into one sheet works until it doesn’t. If the same statement was downloaded twice, its transactions appear twice. If an interim statement overlaps the monthly ones, a few weeks are doubled. If a month is missing, nothing tells you. The totals look plausible, so the error is only found when the year won’t reconcile.
How combining works here
When you add several statements, StatementToCSV:
- converts and checks each statement against its own balances;
- orders them by the period printed on each statement;
- recognises identical files, even with different names, and keeps one copy;
- finds overlapping periods and includes each transaction once;
- keeps genuine repeated transactions, such as two identical coffees on the same day, because they belong to the same statement;
- checks each statement’s opening balance against the previous closing balance;
- exports one CSV with a
Source filecolumn, so any row can be traced back to its PDF.
Steps
- Add the statementsIn “Several statements” above, choose all the PDFs.
- Read the checksEach check is marked Pass, Handled (for duplicates and overlaps dealt with) or Review.
- Download the combined CSVOr the Xero or QuickBooks CSV for the whole period.
What the combined CSV looks like
Date,Description,Paid in,Paid out,Balance,Source file 01/10/2025,STANDING ORDER RENT,,850.00,1690.75,Statement_2025-10.pdf 02/10/2025,CARD PAYMENT FICTIONAL CAFE,,4.80,1685.95,Statement_2025-10.pdf
The balance column carries straight on from one statement to the next, which is itself a quick visual check that the months join up.
Different accounts
If the folder contains statements for more than one account, they’re separated by account and combined one account at a time. Balances from different accounts are never mixed.
Tracing a row back to its statement
The Source file column matters when someone questions a figure. An auditor, an HMRC enquiry or a client asking “what was this payment?” can be answered by filtering the combined CSV for the transaction, reading which PDF it came from, and opening that statement. Keep the PDFs alongside the CSV for that reason.
Questions people ask
Will duplicate statements be counted twice?
No. Identical files are detected and counted once, whatever they’re called.
What about two genuine identical payments?
They are kept. Two identical transactions within one statement are real; only repeated statements or overlapping periods are removed.
Can I combine statements from two accounts?
They are kept apart and checked one account at a time, so you get one combined CSV per account.
Is combining free?
The combined CSV is a Pro feature, free for everyone during the beta.
