Rows wrong or missing?
Send us the shape of this statement, not its contents. The report below is made in this browser. It keeps where text sits, dates and column headings. Every name, amount, reference and account number is replaced with x and 1, as you can see. Nothing is sent until you send it.
Then email the report to [email protected] and say which bank it is from. We’ll add the layout and let you know.

Starling statements have been tested with real statements. They are produced from the app, and use column headings stacked over two or three lines, which defeats converters that expect a heading on a single line. StatementToCSV reads the stacked headings and also compares Starling’s printed summary with the transactions it found.
How to download your Starling statement as a PDF
- Open the Starling app and go to the account.
- Look for Statements (often in the account or settings area of the app).
- Choose the month or date range and the PDF format, then save or share the file to your computer.
- Starling business customers can usually do the same from the business account, and from Starling’s web access where it is available to them.
Starling can produce statements for custom date ranges. For a year-end, monthly statements are easiest to check, because each one has its own opening and closing balance.
Menu names change from time to time and can differ between the app and the website. If you can’t find statements, search for “statements” in the app or online banking help.
What a Starling statement looks like
A Starling statement shows the date, the type of transaction, the counterparty or description, money in, money out, and a balance (headed something like “Account balance”, printed over several lines). Transfers to and from Spaces, Starling’s savings pots, appear as ordinary transactions.
Which export to choose
Sole traders on Starling often use Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent. Choose the Xero or QuickBooks CSV to match, or the CSV for Excel for everything else.
Common issues with Starling statements
- Stacked headings. Column headings printed over two or three lines are read as one heading per column.
- Spaces transfers. Moving money to a Space shows as money out of the main account. If you only care about real spending, filter out transfers to Spaces in your spreadsheet.
- Printed summary. The converter compares Starling’s summary totals with the transactions. If they differ, it says so as a note, even when the running balances all add up.
Support status: tested
We have converted real Starling statements and checked every row against their printed balances. Banks change their statement designs from time to time, so each conversion is still checked: if a future Starling layout doesn’t read correctly, the balance check will show it, and the “Help us support this layout” button lets you send us an anonymised report.
StatementToCSV is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Starling. The name is used only to describe the statements the converter reads.
Questions people ask
Does StatementToCSV work with Starling statements?
Yes. Starling is one of the three layouts tested on real statements, and every conversion is checked against its balances.
The converter says the Starling summary differs from the transactions. Is that a problem?
It means the totals printed in the summary don’t equal the transactions listed. If the running balances all add up, the rows are complete; the note is there so you can look at the summary yourself.
Can I convert Starling business statements?
Yes, if they follow the same layout. If something doesn’t read correctly, send a layout report from the converter.
