Send us the shape of this statement, not its contents. The report below is made in this browser. It keeps where text sits, dates and column headings. Every name, amount, reference and account number is replaced with x and 1, as you can see. Nothing is sent until you send it.
Then email the report to support@statementtocsv.co.uk and say which bank it is from. We’ll add the layout and let you know.

first direct is part of HSBC UK, whose statements are tested. first direct statements have their own design, though, and we haven’t tested a real one, so first direct is in beta. The converter reads by column rather than by bank, and the balance check shows whether every row was read.
How to download your first direct statement as a PDF
- Log on to first direct online banking.
- Choose the account and look for Statements.
- Select the statement and save it as a PDF.
- The first direct app may also let you view and save statements.
first direct can provide copies of older statements on request if they aren’t available online.
Menu names change from time to time and can differ between the app and the website. If you can’t find statements, search for “statements” in the app or online banking help.
What to check on your first direct statement
Check your statement for a date, details, money out, money in and a running balance. If the date is printed only on the first transaction of each day, the converter fills it in for every row.
Which export to choose
Most first direct customers want the CSV for Excel.
Common issues with first direct statements
- Not the same as HSBC. Shared ownership doesn’t mean an identical layout, so first direct is beta until its own statements are tested.
- Dates once per day. Rows without a printed date get the date of the row above.
- Beta layout. If a row is flagged, compare it with the PDF and send a layout report.
Support status: beta
StatementToCSV reads statements by their columns, not with a fixed template for each bank, so some first direct statements may already convert. But we haven’t yet tested a real first direct statement, so we don’t claim support. Verified means every extracted row adds up to the balances printed on the statement. If you don’t see Verified, the converter shows you where the balances stopped adding up.
You can help: click Help us support this layout under the result. It creates a report of the statement’s layout in your browser, with every name, amount, reference and account number replaced by x and 1. Email it to support@statementtocsv.co.uk. When first direct is tested, it will be announced on the updates page.
StatementToCSV is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by first direct. The name is used only to describe the statements the converter reads.
