Rows wrong or missing?
Send us the shape of this statement, not its contents. The report below is made in this browser. It keeps where text sits, dates and column headings. Every name, amount, reference and account number is replaced with x and 1, as you can see. Nothing is sent until you send it.
Then email the report to support@statementtocsv.co.uk and say which bank it is from. We’ll add the layout and let you know.

- Download the QuickBooks CSVClick “QuickBooks CSV”. The file has three columns: Date, Description and Amount, with money out as negative amounts.
- Open bank transactions in QuickBooksIn QuickBooks Online, go to the banking or bank transactions area.
- Choose to upload from a fileLook for an Upload from file or Upload transactions option (often under the button for linking an account). Select the CSV.
- Pick the account and map the columnsChoose which QuickBooks account the transactions belong to. Map Date, Description and Amount, choose the three-column layout and the dd/mm/yyyy date format.
- Review and acceptThe transactions arrive in the For Review list. Categorise or match each one and add it to the books.
QuickBooks renames menus now and then. If you can’t find the upload option, search QuickBooks help for “upload bank transactions from a file”.
Common upload problems
“The file is too large”
QuickBooks limits the size of an uploaded file. A year of a busy account can exceed it. Split the CSV into smaller date ranges in Excel (by quarter, for example) and upload each in turn. Our guide on splitting a CSV by month shows how.
Dates are rejected or in the wrong month
Choose the dd/mm/yyyy format when mapping. If you opened the file in Excel with US regional settings and saved it, the dates may have been changed; download the CSV again and upload it without editing.
All amounts appear as money in
Make sure you chose the three-column (single amount) layout when mapping. In the four-column layout, a single signed column would be read wrongly.
Transactions already exist
QuickBooks may flag possible matches with transactions from a bank feed. Only upload periods the feed doesn’t cover, and exclude duplicates in the For Review list.
After the upload
Categorise or match each transaction in For Review, then reconcile the account against the statement’s closing balance. Because the statement was checked to the penny before you converted it, any reconciliation difference will be in what was already in QuickBooks, not in the import.
Questions people ask
Where is the upload option in QuickBooks Online?
It’s in the banking area, usually under the button for linking an account, labelled something like “Upload from file”.
Which date format should I choose?
dd/mm/yyyy, which is how the QuickBooks CSV writes dates.
Can I upload several statements at once?
Combine them first with “Several statements” and download one QuickBooks CSV. Split it if QuickBooks says the file is too large.
Why do I need to review the transactions?
Uploaded transactions go to For Review so you can categorise them and avoid duplicates before they reach the books.
